Today we had the opportunity to tour Petersen Inc. with Jon Rasband, their EH&S Engineer. Petersen Inc. started out in a garage in 1961 is today over 1.3 million square feet of world-class manufacturing, specialized fabrication, precision machining, warehouse and distribution facilities in Ogden, Utah, and Pocatello, Idaho. Today they employ over 500 employees and have strong roots in the communities they operate in. Petersen Inc. takes great pride in delivering quality, on-time products to their customers and the industries that they serve. They build anything from aerospace, nuclear mining, petrochemical and so much more. There’s nothing they can’t build. Petersen Inc has been a member of the Utah Safety Council since 1995.

Today we met with Jim Anton from Varex Imaging Corporation and had a fascinating tour of their facility. Varex Imaging Corporation is a leading independent supplier of medical X-ray tubes and image processing solutions. From medical imaging to cargo screening and border security, our components their components are used by X-ray imaging system manufacturers around the globe to detect, diagnose and protect. 05/09/2018 - Certain Teed Simtek
Today we had the opportunity to tour CertainTeed Simtek in Orem, Utah., with their Safety Manager, Natalie Anderson. CertainTeed Corporation is a North American manufacturer of building materials for both commercial and residential construction. Simtek pioneered and patented the design of a rotationally molded fence with EcoStone®, it's simulated stone fence system that combines the realistic appearance of stone with superior performance. 04/25/18 Doppelmayr has been a member of the Utah Safety Council for nearly 12 years! We recently were able to visit them at their facility and check out all the amazing things they do! They are one of the world’s largest manufacturers of ski lifts, and they send them all over the world! It was fascinating to see them at work, working heavy machinery, welding, assembly lines, cutting steel with fire and plasma, along with much more. You can tell without a doubt that they love what they do and truly care about the customer. We were able to see a model unit that was going to be shipped out of the country. Thanks again for hosting us, and for being a member of the Utah Safety Council!

Halloween Bash 2017
10/30/2017- As parents prepared to send their kids off for trick or treating and brace for the sugar rush that will possess them the Utah Safety Council adds to the fun and creates a safe place to do some trick or treating. Halloween is meant to be spooky fun without any trouble or pain. The Utah Safety Council did just that by hosting a Halloween Family Bash night where families from the community were welcomed to enjoy trick or treating, arts and crafts, tricycle paths, and fire trucks. In partner with the Salt Lake City Fire Department, Poison Control, and Utah Highway patrol we enjoyed out first Halloween Bash.

10/30/2017- Today we had the opportunity to tour Rock Exotica in Clearfield, Utah with their Quality Manager, Jack Fenn. Rock Exotica started making their first products in a garage, in 1987. They have grown out of the garage and currently have dealers in not only the United States and Canada, but are international as well. They make anything from carabiners, pulleys, swivels, rigging plates, rope grabs and so much more. If you like to Rock Climb, Rock Exotica is the place to check out. Rock Exotica has been a member of the Utah Safety Council since 2014. Thanks Jack for the great tour!

A new airport is coming to Salt Lake City!
09/29/2017-Dan Fegel, Safety Manager for the Airport Redevelopment Program gave us a tour of the first phase of rebuilding the Salt Lake City International Airport which is at a midpoint of the $3 billion project scheduled to have all phases fully completed in 2025. It was an impressive project to see with numerous cement support columns, 19 cranes scattered throughout the site, and more 650 workers from a multitude of companies all working together to complete this project. Along with Heidi Harward and Paige Christensen from the Salt Lake Department of Airports, we were able to walk a section of the new south concourse and see the overall size of the construction site from the third level of the existing parking structure. It is an impressive project with safety being a priority to each of the contractors and workers involved in building this state of the art airport.

09/25/2017- Today our Home & Community Program Manager, Veronica Kitchens, joined KCPW on-air to help with their fall pledge drive. Veronica talked about the Utah Safety Council's Buckle Up For Love program, and the importance of using properly installed car seats to protect children. She also shared defensive driving tips, and ways to stay safer on the road. We enjoyed the opportunity to help support KCPW and look forward to working with them in the future. - Learn More

09/07/2017- Today we toured Sapa Extrusion. They offer the industry’s largest choice of extruded aluminum shapes (standard and custom), seamless and structural pipe & tube, and standard and specialty rod and bar. They manufacture aluminum products for building and construction, transportation, infrastructure, automotive, industrial design, energy, and HVACR. Their Spanish Fork facility has 220 employees. We appreciate their commitment to safety and for being a member of the Utah Safety Council. Thanks Bill and Wade for an amazing tour!

08/16/2017- Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth at the Utah Mining Association's 102nd Annual Convention. The theme this year was "Focusing on the Future." As always, they did a great job and we were glad for the opportunity to participate.

08/04/2017- Today we toured IM Flash in Lehi, Utah! IM Flash is changing the way the world stores information. IM Flash produces NAND flash memory for use in consumer electronics, removable storage and handheld communication devices. Who knew a tiny chip could hold MASSIVE amounts of data? Thank you, Bob Mouritsen, for coming through with the “WOW” factor!
